Mary Barton Obituary

Mary Melton Barton passed away April 27, 2026. She was born June 26, 1939 in Crestview, Florida to the late Homer and Katie Griffith Melton. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Kerry; other siblings, nephews, and nieces.

Mary was a member of South Ebeneezer Church. After graduation she had several occupations, she worked at the Santa Rosa Hospital, Monsanto, and the Okaloosa County School System from which she retired.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her friends and working with her flowers until she became unable to do so. She liked to share flowers with her friends, and she never met a stranger.

Mary is survived by the ones she called her honorary children, Tim Hester and wife Debra and children, John Melton and wife Barbara and children, Patsy Rogers and children, and Carlotta and Allen Melvin. She is also survived by cousins, aunts, and an uncle.

A time of visitation with the family will be from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the funeral service starting at 11:00am with Pastor Donnie Cadenhead officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetic Association in memory of Mary Melton Barton.
