Mary Elizabeth Locke

Early in the morning of March 4th 2022, Mary Elizabeth Locke went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Mary was born November 28th 1929 in Kissimmee, FL to Clarence & Adele Barber. That’s where Mary met the love of her life Lloyd Locke. They were happily married for 53 years before his passing in 2000. Mary is survived by her Sister Dorothy Baker of Picayune, MS, son James Locke of Palm Bay, FL, daughter Charlene and husband David Daugette of Crestview Fl. Mary was a loving grandmother to Dan and wife Betsy Daugette, Dustin Daugette, Lindsay and husband Derek DeWolf, Lee and wife Tracy Locke, Mary Frances Locke, & Sam Locke. Mary was blessed with 10 great grandchildren, and had many nieces and nephews.

Mary and Lloyd raised their family in many locations around the world during his career in the US Military. The family moved to Crestview in 1968, and Mary has been a resident for the past 54 years. Mary loved spending her summers fishing for king salmon and halibut in Alaska, and playing with her grandkids. She enjoyed gardening, gameshows, baking cakes, and was a puzzle master.

Mary was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Crestview where she regularly attended Sunday school, enjoyed church trips with friends, and learned to play the Dulcimer. Mary loved to give back, and was a dedicated volunteer at the Crestview Council on Aging Center.

Our Granny was known for her honest, loving, and kind yet competitive spirit. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Mary touched are invited to join us on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 6-8:00pm for a viewing at Whitehurst Powell Funeral home, and Thursday, March 10, 2022 for a Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church at 11am followed by a graveside service at Almirante Cemetery.
