Mary Evelyn Maddox Brown

On the evening of April 15, 2020, Mary Evelyn Maddox Brown passed on from this world to a better place.  She was born on September 20, 1933 in Covington County Alabama, and graduated from Florala High School.  She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she met her future husband, "Coach" Don Brown.  They lived in south Florida and Alabama, before settling permanently in Okaloosa County in 1962.

Mary was a long time bookkeeper, secretary, and administrative assistant for the Okaloosa County judge and several law offices, before working and retiring from Okaloosa County Waste Management.  She worked with the program from its inception.

After retiring, she enjoyed crocheting, fishing, working in her yard, spending time with her family, and watching her grandchildren play sports.  She was an "Elvis" fan and rarely missed an Atlanta Braves game on television.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William O. Maddox and Winnie Mae Maddox; her husband, Donald F. Brown; her brothers Leo, Max, and Buck Maddox; her sister Geretha Baldwin and her grandson, Forrest Whitfield Brown.  She is survived by her brother Gyles Maddox; sons David A. Brown (Melissa) and Larry "Yogi" Brown (Sandra); daughter, Pamela A. Baggett; granddaughter Leslie A. Snedeker (Kyle); grandsons Jason D. Baggett (Ashley), Nicholas R. Brown; great grandchildren, Eli and Maddie Snedeker, Everett and Odin Baggett.

A private family service will take place.
