Mary Maxine Simpson, a remarkable woman of grace and inspiration, passed away
peacefully on August 12, 2024, in Peachtree City, Georgia, at the age of 95. Born on
February 23, 1929, in Coffee Springs, Alabama, Mary devoted her life to service,
faith, and family.
Mary dedicated a significant portion of her professional life to the Civil Service for
the United States Air Force, where she carried out her duties with unwavering
commitment and excellence. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary was deeply
passionate about spending quality time with her family, educating herself and others
about nutrition, health and financial stability.
Her faith in God was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through life and numerous
mission trips to Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Macau. These
journeys allowed her to touch countless lives, sharing her wisdom on health, finances,
and faith. As an ordained pastor with God’s Handmaidens and a missionary, Mary’s
compassion and dedication left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving parents, M.A. and Nancy Dorsey and her
spouse Norman G. Simpson and grandson Jonathan S. O’Haley. She leaves behind
cherished memories with her daughter, Nancy Renee and husband John A. Guest, her
son, Keith G. Simpson, and her beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Dianna, Patrick, and
Austin. Her legacy continues through her six great-grandchildren, along with extended
family and friends who were fortunate to share in her life's journey.
Mary Maxine Simpson’s life was a testament to selfless service, boundless love, and a
ceaseless quest to uplift those around her. Her spirit will forever inspire and live on in
the hearts of many.
A memorial service in Atlanta was held at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at
the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City.
Her final resting place and service will be held at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home,
Crestview Florida on Monday August 26, 2024. The family will receive friends and
family from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be
laid to rest at Reeder’s Cemetery in Laurel Hill, Florida.
