Rose - Mattie Ruth Rosa Kennedy Reeves passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 92.
Rose was born on January 30, 1932, in Escambia Farms, Florida, to Alex and Ruth Kennedy. She met and married her husband Wesley in 1958. Together they raised their five children in Choctaw Beach and later in life they moved to Escambia Farms where they enjoyed farming. She was first and foremost a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. At times, she was also a caregiver and housekeeper. She was dedicated to her family ensuring that they were loved and cared for.
Rose loved to garden. She could grow anything she put her green thumb on, and the meals she prepared for her loved ones came from her garden. Each season, she always had a food source that she would freeze, can, or preserve.
Rose had a colorful sense of humor. Laughter was an important part of her life, and she shared her contagious laughter with those around her. She had a playful spirit and would often play jokes on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rose was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She shared her love for the Savior with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Rose is proceeded in death by her parents Alex and Ruth Kennedy, her husband of sixty-two years, Wesley, sons Danny (Jean) Foley and Joe Reeves, foster daughter Anita Stricklin, siblings Maurice Kennedy, Francis Clements, John Kennedy, Rozelle Kennedy, Jewel Hughes, Mark Kennedy, Shirley Kennedy and grandchildren Brenda and Becky Reeves.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Cindy) Reeves, Julie (Wally) Landreth, and David Reeves, sister Jeanette Carr, sixteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy will be carried on in the generations she leaves behind.
