Maxie Barrow, age 78, of Crestview passed away on July 18, 2020. He was born in Crestview, Florida on April 22, 1942 to Fern and Winoa Barrow and had been a lifelong resident. He served his country for 25 years in the United States Navy and after retiring from the Navy he went to work for the Crestview Police Department where he became the Chief of Police and served his community for 12 years. Maxie enjoyed fishing, hunting, having family fish fries, working in his yard and being outdoors, and he loved to cook and try new foods. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Barrow; his parents; granddaughter Rachele Lessie; and two sisters: Gloria Barrow and Sharon Bass. Maxie is survived by his son, Jimmy Barrow and wife Paula; daughters, Tammy Henkes and husband Todd, Sherrie Barrow, and Lisa Josey; six grandchildren, Van, Alicia, Heather, Colby and Dakota; 6 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Chandlar, Ella, Braelynn, Brylee, and Kiley. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 1:00-2:00pm with the funeral service starting at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery. The family asks that social distancing in family groups be observed and that masks are optional, but will be provided if you don’t have one.
