Michael Burns Obituary

Michael V. Burns of Crestview, Florida died peacefully on August 11th ,2020 at Eglin AFB hospital after a short illness. Michael was born in Laconia, New Hampshire on September 24th, 1952. Son of the late Stanley Burns and Vivian (Theriault) Caliguire. He was raised in New Fairfield/Danbury, Connecticut and Graduated from Danbury High School in 1971.

Michael joined the U.S. Air Force in 1975 and began his career as an Aircraft Scheduler. Michael was passionate about his position in the Air Force and proudly served his country. Over his twenty-year military career, he and his family were stationed at various bases throughout the United States and Germany. In 1995 the family was stationed at Eglin AFB and settled in Crestview, FL  where he retired from the Air Force. Michael then began a civilian career with the DOD/Air Force continuing his position as an Aircraft Scheduler. At the time of his passing he was working with the 812th AMXS at Pensacola NAS Pensacola, FL.

Michael had a love of the great outdoors which was inspired by his Grandfather Verne Theriault. He spent many summers at the family cabin in Northern, Maine and enjoyed sharing these stories with his children. Some of his hobbies included watching outdoor/nature and cooking tv shows and regularly fishing out on the Gulf of Mexico. He loved football and was a huge New England Patriots fan. Michael was a loving and devoted husband and father. What gave him strength in life was his strong faith and love of God. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Sharon (Mancini) Burns. His 4 children Michael (Sonya), Andrea (Nathan), Matthew (Britney), Gregory (Crystalle). Seven grandchildren, sister Marilynn Burns and nephew Scott Reynolds. 

A graveside service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Roy Marien officiating.

Private mass for the family will be held in September. In lieu of flowers to the family contributions can be made to St. Jude and or Wounded Warrior foundation in Michael’s name.
