On April 5th, 2021, Nina Lynn Overholtz passed away and joined her Lord and Savior in heaven. Nina was born in Dade City, Florida on December 8, 1949 to Ralph Hughes and Bonnie Bell Jones. Nina was one of eight children, and grew up in Crestview, Florida. Nina was a dedicated mother and grandmother for her whole life. She raised three generations of children, beginning with her eldest child Neil, then raising her children Annette, Billy, Dena and Brad, and then her daughter Kara, as well as her grandchildren Velta, Thomas and Ethan. Everyone called her “Mama”. She always put her children first above everything, and she loved her family. After marrying Ron in 1971, she worked tirelessly to put him through school, including graduate school, while also attending Troy university herself. She graduated in 1979, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Accounting. She went to work at NAS Pensacola and worked there for over 35 years before her retirement. After beginning her career in accounting, she took a job as a computer programmer, where she excelled, becoming one of the top programmers across the US Naval Civil Service. Nina loved spending time with her family most of all, but also was an avid reader, and loved country music. Nina was a resilient woman and made sure to bring happiness and love to all around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Overholtz; son, Brad Overholtz; brothers, Roble Strickland, Terry Hughes, and Tommy Hughes; sisters, Amber Hughes, Nell Boland, Gail Jenkins, and Dawn Strickland.
