Norma “Jean” Faulkner was born on October 19, 1939 to Rufus E. Long and Louise Long in Baker, Florida. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 11, 2021. She is survived by her daughters, Nita (Craig) Fickett and Debbie (Dean) Clary; sister, Betty Matheny; brother, Eugene Long; several brothers and sisters in law; 19 grandchildren, Dale Fickett, Randy (Kim) Fickett, Robert (Karen) Fickett, Tanya (Eric) Demara, Sarah Faulkner, Bandy (Adam) Ladson, Bobbie Faulkner, Donnie (Heather) Faulkner, Dillon (Rachel) Clary, Jessica Fickett, Logan (Kayla) Fickett and Jarrett Clary; 17 great grandchildren, Fiona Fickett, Lillie Gainey, Kaylee Fickett, Kadin Fickett, Steven Demara, Jaxson Faulkner, Michael Gainey, Aiden Demara, Cian Fickett, Benjamen Demara, Dalton Ladson, Delaney Faulkner, Brae Fickett, Brylee Fickett, Sawyer Gainey, Faith Fickett, Trace Fickett, and Arabella Fickett. She is also survived by many “adopted” family members and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert “Bob”; son, Joe Faulkner; four brothers, Donald, Buddy, Grover and Jerry Long; sisters, Helen, Berry, Faye Martin and Kathy Belanger.
Jean was a devoted military wife moving around the country with her husband until his death in October 1978 when she returned to live close to her parents in Crestview, FL. She loved shopping, working outside in her yard planting flowers, gardening and even raking. Her greatest happiness in life was spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 10-11 am with funeral taking place at 11 at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Liveoak Baptist Church Cemetery with Michelle Hanna officiating. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Covenant Hospice Unit at West Florida Hospital 5041 N. 12th Ave, Pensacola, FL 32504.
