Otis Granger Obituary

Otis Wayne Granger, 79, of Florala, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 23, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the cherished son of the late OL Granger and Kathleen Carter Schuel and was born in Cottonwood, Alabama. He graduated from Thomasville High School in 1964.

Wayne spent 25 years working as an Environmental Science and Protection Technician for Louisiana Pacific, where he was known for his commitment and dedication to problem-solving. Wayne proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1986, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and retiring as a Master Sergeant.

Outside of work, Wayne was an avid fisherman and found great joy in carpentry, building, and tinkering with things. He was known for his unwavering positive outlook and good humor, even in the most challenging times. When asked how he was doing, he could always be counted on to flash a smile and reply, "Just another day in paradise." This cherished phrase embodied his joyful approach to life.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved mother Kathleen Carter Schuel, father OL Granger, and sister Cathy Carter Williamson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Edna Granger; their children, Anna Paul (Mike), Bonnie Edmonds (Robert), and Celeste Granger (Darris). Wayne was a proud grandparent to 4 grandchildren - Holli, Christine, Nathan, and Olivia - and great-grandparent to two great-grandchildren - Aviana and Devonte Jr. He also leaves behind his sister Barbara Gallardo, brother John Granger, and brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Teri Carter, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Beyond his immediate family, Wayne was a devoted member of his entire family. He cherished the time spent with his sister, brothers, nieces, and nephews. His greatest pride was his family, and he worked tirelessly to ensure their happiness and security. Wayne was an exceptional provider, dedicating his life to making sure his wife and children had everything they needed.
