Pastor Sammie Radford, Sr., age 75, went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 16, 2020. Born on July 18, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to Sedalia and Edward Radford. Sammie was the Pastor of the House of Praise Church of God in Christ from 1981 until January 2020. He was a jack of all trades and an excellent carpenter. He worked as a bus driver and in food services where he retired with the Okaloosa County School Board. Sammie loved the Lord and loved people. His favorite pastime was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a father and pastor to many people. Sammie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; a son, Bert Radford, Sr.; and a grandson.
He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Gloria Radford; sons, Sammie Radford Jr. (Kimberly) and Christopher Radford (Anita); daughter, Willie Ruth Radford; brothers, Edward Radford, John Radford, and Will Radford; sister, Linda Bradley; special uncle, Aaron Radford; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. A time of visitation with the family will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Old Bethel Cemetery beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
The family asks that if you come to the services that you practice social distancing in family groups and that you wear a mask or face covering while at the service. Sammie loved his community and would not want to be the cause of spreading COVID to any of his friends or family.
