Patti Mitchell

Patricia Mitchell O’Brian of Crestview, FL, passed away on March 5th, 2025 at the age of 73. Patti leaves an indelible impression on those who called her wife, friend, teacher and mentor. Patti’s brilliant spirit, radiant smile and laughter, wit, compassion and loving heart captivated everyone who had a chance to get to know her.

Patti was born to Claude and Lois Mitchell of Crestview, FL.  She attended Troy State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in music education. She then went to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and received her Masters of Arts in Music and Music Education.  It was Patti’s love for music and children that led her to teach for 35 years in the Crestview school system.  Patti had a beautiful way to relate and influence young lives.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lois Mitchell, and her brother Claude Mitchell, Jr (Junior).  Survivors include her husband Robert (Bob) O’Brian; her stepchildren, Shawn O'Brian, David (Rebecca) O'Brian, and Chris (Jennifer) O'Brian; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, along with extended family and many friends.

Patti’s passing has left an enormous void in the lives of those who loved her, but her legacy of love, teaching and kindness will carry on in the lives she touched. 

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Heart Association.  .  A visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.
