Ray Mixon, age 80, passed away October 12, 2020. He was born on July 9, 1940 in Evergreen, AL to Hazel and O.V. Mixon. Ray served in the United States Marine Corp. He loved to golf, bass fish, and garden. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. He spent every night riding his gator around his property to feed the fox and deer. He had his first great-grandson, Louie, in March and spent much of his time loving and doting on him. Louie was the apple of his Papa’s eye. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan Mixon; brother, Thad Mixon.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Haan and her husband Barry of Crestview, FL; son, Scott Mixon and wife Susan of Rydal, GA; brothers, Forrest Mixon and his wife Deborah of Foley, AL and Walter Mixon and his wife Jacque of Foley, AL; sister, Sylvia Perry and her husband Buddy of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Charlie McDonald and his wife Elease, Mallory McDonald and her husband Brannon, Katie Forsyth and her husband Jason, Davis Mixon and his wife Molly, and Audrey Mixon; great grandchildren, Louie Remaklus and baby C.T. McDonald(that is on the way).
A private family service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Ray’s name to Kidney Research.
