Rita Mullins Walker
Rita was born with her twin sister, Nita in West Virgina, December 30, 1943, died September 25, 2024. It is with deep sorrow that Rita was called home, for we are only traveling through this earth on our way to our permanent home.

Rita was baptized by her fiancé John Walker, a Deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. They were married a week later September 19, 2009, in the church. They grew up in Homestead, Florida, Rita was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she volunteered in the nursery out of love for children. Her favorite hobby was oil painting.
Those that cherish her memory are her devoted husband, John Walker; brothers, Junior and Richard (Jane) Mullins; two grandchildren, David Porterfield and Karissa (Toby) Hall; eight great-grandchildren; two step-children, whom I love as my own, Eric (Amelia) Walker and Emily (Chuck) Richards; eleven step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Rita is preceded in death by her sons, David and John Porterfield; her brothers, Billy, Bobby, Oral, and Donald Mullins; her sisters, Joan Williams and Nita Richardson; and a step-daughter, Deena Goedge.
Please join us in celebration of Rita’s life on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00am at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the visitation starting at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery.
In lieu, of flowers the family suggests contributions be given to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rita’s Memory.
