MSGT Robert Randall Hobbs, USAF Ret., passed Thursday December 31, 2020. He was born August 22, 1940 in Wise County Virginia to Charles A and Marie Richardson Hobbs. He was Baptist by faith. MSGT Hobbs retired from the United States Air Force in 1982 after over 20 years of service. After his military retirement he pursued his interest in knife collecting and became known as the “Knife-Man” at several area flea markets where he sold knives. A Master Mason he was honored with a life membership at the Coburn, VA Lodge #97. In healthier times he was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed browsing numerous antique shops and walking on the beach. He also managed to obtain his Batchelor’s Degree from Troy University after retirement. He took great pleasure in his grandchildren referring to him as “Paw-Paw Bob with the Reese’s cups in is pockets”.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy E. (nee Chaffin) of Crestview, FL, his son Charles Burke of Elba, AL and his daughters Teresa Long of Knoxville, TN, Cheri Craft and her husband Rick of Lawrence County, OH and Rhonda Beigert and her husband Dedier of Norwalk, CA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous friends.
Friends are invited to attend a grave side service Monday January 11, 2021 at the Barrancas National Cemetery (NAS Pensacola) where services will be held at 9:00am with Rev. Ian Anderson of Emanual Baptist Church officiating. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to observe proper Covid-19 restrictions regarding masks and social distancing.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Caring and Sharing of Okaloosa County.
