Colonel Robert (Bob) G. Kulvich passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the age of 84 in Crestview, Florida. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 11, 1940 to George and Lillian Kulvich. He is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 63 years, his daughters Lisa (Jerry) Snyder and Susan (Matt) Schweitzer, four grandchildren, Jerry (Kristina), Amanda, Haley and Drew, one great grandchild, Hazel, sister Mary, sister-in-law Joann, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Don Kulvich and brother-in-law Larry Windingstad.
After graduating from Cretin High School in 1958, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army. Bob proudly served his country for over 30 years with overseas tours in Turkey, Panama, Vietnam, Tunisia and Japan, as well as domestic tours in Illinois and at the Pentagon.
Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota and earned a graduate degree in Management from Webster College.
Bob enjoyed living all over the world with his family and took them on many outdoor adventures and sightseeing trips. Bob was a marathon runner, avid hiker and had a lifelong passion for scuba diving. When Bob and Joyce settled in Crestview after his retirement, he was able to enjoy scuba diving on a weekly basis. He was especially happy that his niece Coreen shared this passion and they enjoyed several dive trips throughout the Gulf of Mexico over the years. He enjoyed hosting visitors at their Florida “oasis” and was happy to create a written agenda for each day of activities and meals.
A service to celebrate his life and service to our country will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 2:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. In remembrance of Bob’s life, the family has requested that any charitable donations be made in his honor to Feeding The Gulf Coast.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
