Robert Lewis Nickerson

June 14, 1940 ~ August 7, 2023 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Obituary

Robert Lewis Nickerson, Sr., 83 peacefully departed his earthly life after a long illness and surrounded by

his dearest ones on August 7, 2023 in Crestview, FL. Bob was born on June 14, 1940 to the late Kenneth and Elsie Nickerson in Boston, Massachusetts, spending most of his childhood with his two younger sisters Judie and Linda on a farm in Bowdoin, Maine. He attended Bowdoin County schools, excelling at spelling and math. It is also where he met his bride-to-be, Patricia Ann Slocomb, in the 4th

grade. Upon graduation from Brunswick High School in 1958 he married Pat and enlisted in the US Army, serving as a radio teletype operator and earning citations for proficiency and good conduct. After his honorable discharge, Bob was blessed with a life rich with family and friends, and enjoyed many activities including tinkering with cars, camping, and road trips. Bob had several successful careers: as a credit manager with Ford Motor Company in San Diego CA; as half of a highly respected real estate team with his wife, Pat at Prudential Cooper & Co. in Mobile, AL; and finally retiring as a top salesman at Beaudry RV in San Marcos, CA. Bob's retirement in 2005 included lots of travel: cross country car trips and cruises with his wife of almost 65 years by his side. Another highlight of his retirement years was working side by side with his son at the family campground near Pensacola, FL, where he resided for the last 12 years of his life. Bob's last 3 years on this earth were marked by illness and rapidly diminishing independence. But through it all he was still patient and uncomplaining. He loved a nice meal with his family around the table. To the end he kept his hallmark sense of humor and can-do attitude.

Those left to cherish his memory are his dearly beloved wife Patricia A. (Slocomb) Nickerson, his

daughter Barbara Wight and her life partner Wayne Brinkley; his son Robert, Jr. and his wife Susan.

Bob also leaves grandchildren Matthew Bell and his wife Maggie; David, Joseph and Grace Nickerson,

and Nicholas Morrell. Step-grandchildren include Sarah, Kristen, Morgan and step great grandson Carson

Wayne. Bob was a reliable, loyal, wise, and hard-working husband, father, Papa, confidant and friend-always seeking for the comfort and well-being of those he loved. Services for Bob will be held Wednesday 8/16/23 at Crosspoint Church South Campus 2250 PJ Adams Pkwy, Crestview, FL 32536
