Ronald von Oven Obituary

Ronald von Oven, age 68, passed away October 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 7, 1952 in De Hague, Holland to Teddyne and Adolf von Oven. He worked for thirteen years as a Corrections Officer at Okaloosa State Prison. Ron had previously work for Borden’s Milk Company and delivering Bunny Bread. He loved to fish, the ocean, and enjoying time on the water. He liked college football, being on boats, eating, and the Casinos. He was a proud father, father-in-law, and Grandpa. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doreen von Oven; sons, Mark C. von Oven (Jaclyn) of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Ryan J von Oven (Brooke) of Melbourne, Florida, Kyle E von Oven (Michell) of Madison, Alabama, and Brad J. von Oven (Amy) of Warner Robins, Georgia; sisters, Marian Smith of Virginia, Ingrid Galan Deegan (Ralph) of Pleasantville, New Jersey, Elizabeth Holmes of Baker, Florida, and Yvonne Specht (John) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; 11 grandchildren, Charlize, Ashton, Braden, Kameron, Shawna, Jorja, Ethan, Parker, Kayla, Gabriel, and Brayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family asks that if you come to the services that you practice social distancing in family groups and that you wear a mask or face covering while at the service.

Ron would not want to be the cause of spreading COVID to any of his friends or family in attendance.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 10:00AM at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.
