Ronnie Childs

Ronnie Childs age 64 of Laurel Hill passed away on Wednesday January 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Winter Haven, FL on February 20, 1955 to Willie and Ailene Childs and has been a lifetime resident of Laurel Hill. Ronnie enjoyed traveling and working with his wife, Dianne. He never met a stranger and had an infectious personality. Ronnie enjoyed singing and playing music, but most of all he loved his family. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Wilbur, Clint, W.C., Willie Childs and Charles Lewis; and a granddaughter Bravon Childs. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 48 years Dianne Childs, children: Heath Childs and wife Samantha and Samantha Cox and husband Justin; sister: Carolyn Dollar and husband Bobby; Mary Buckhaulter and husband Jean; twin brother Donnie Childs and wife Florance and Gene Lewis and wife Frances; grandchildren: Bryson Childs, Logan Hunt, Mason and Ella Cox. Multiple nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. A time of visitation with the family will be held on Sunday February 2, 2020 at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m.til 5:00 p.m. The celebration of Ronnie’s life will be on Monday February 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral with Reverend Jack Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Svea Cemetery.
