Roshell York

Roshell York age 92 of Blackman passed away on Tuesday December 28, 2021. She was born on April 7, 1929, to Hamp and Mamie Lawson. Roshell was a member of Rock Creek Assembly of God. She worked as a seamstress of over 20 years and loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hamp and Mamie Lawson; daughter, Evelyn Stewart; sister, Vera Asbel; and brother, Horace and Roy Lawson.

Roshell is survived by her husband of 42 years, Calvin York; children: Jeanette Johnson and husband, Ed Garrett, Mike Stewart and wife, Laresa, Billie Jo Lyons, Chad Stewart and wife, Julie; Stepchildren; Angela York, Pamela Bond and husband, Terry, and Calvin York Jr.; sisters, Vara Moore and Rozell Josey. She also has fourteen grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

A time of visitation with the family will be held on Friday December 31, 2021, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday January 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Yellow River Baptist Church Cemetery.
