SSG George Washington Bell Jr., born May 25, 1941 in Wewahitchka, FL, passed away February 6, 2018 in Crestview, FL. George grew up in southwest Florida and enlisted in the Army branch of the United States Military in 1961. Soon after, he met the love of his life and married her in 1970. George served our country for 20 years. He retired with his family in Crestview, FL, where he opened a business buying and selling Army surplus items and was known as “Junkie G.” His kind heart extended him to the community; George never knew a stranger. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Gerda, his parents George Sr and Elise, his brothers and sisters as follows: JT, Craig, Kenny, Lasandra, Sharon, Pauline, and Barbara Ann. He is survived by his brother Herman, his children Michael, Patricia, and George and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00-6:00PM at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home at 10:30AM Wednesday, February 14, 2018 with visitation beginning at 10:00AM. A private burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.
