Sadie Weaver age 90 of Crestview passed away on Saturday February 1, 2020. She was born in Gadsden, AL on November 10, 1929 to Dolph and Maggie Jenkins. Sadie has been a resident of Crestview for more than 60 years. She started working at Field 3 in 1962 and ran the snack bar at the AAFES. After retiring from the Exchange with 30 plus years, the exchange honored Sadie by naming the snack bar after her, and it became known as “Sadie’s Snack Bar.” She was a great “Southern” cook, her specialty was her red velvet cakes and peanut butter cookies. Sadie loved to read and work outside. But most of all she loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved spending her money on them and spoiling them. Sadie is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons: Terry and Ricky Weaver, a daughter Donna Weaver, daughter in law Debbe Weaver and granddaughter Jennifer Smith Survivors include her son Frankie Weaver; 2 granddaughters Rusti Mynard and husband Ryan and Brandee Weathersby; also surviving are her 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. The celebration of Sadie’s life will be held on Thursday February 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Liveoak Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
