Samuel Joseph Boes, age 77, of Crestview, FL, passed away on Sunday January 17, 2021 at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola. Sam was born in Cresson, PA on February 4, 1943 to Paul Leroy Boes and Marjorie Rose Weidwald-Boes. Sam was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served during Vietnam onboard the USS JONAS INGRAM (DD-938) as a Ship’s Pipefitter. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he lived in Garfield, NJ and Altoona, PA where he worked in various trades as a heavy equipment operator, welder, mechanic, and soldering technician. He was a very proud American who loved fishing, hunting, American muscle cars, Ford trucks, and building ship models. Sam was active in his community as a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in St. Mary’s, GA and a Trustee for the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Victory (Council 7968) in Crestview. He was proceeded in death by his parents Paul and Marjorie Boes along with his brother Norman Boes.
Sam is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Boes; his daughters Jennifer Cabral (husband Ian), Melissa Young (husband Tony), Sister-in-Law Anne Boes, and close cousin Bill Boes (wife Madeline). He is also survived by four grandchildren: Hunter Cabral (wife Naomi), Nathan Young (fiancée Kimberlee), Connor Cabral, and Bridgette Rose Young. He is also survived by numerous close friends and loving family.
The celebration of Sam’s life will be held at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home in Crestview on Saturday January 23, 2021. The viewing will start at 10:00 a.m., followed by the celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m.
