Sandra “Sandi” Underwood, 83, of Crestview, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Sandi was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, proud “Mamaw” and “Nana,” and a faithful servant of God. Her life was a testament to grace, strength, and compassion.

In 1964, she proudly joined the U.S. Army, where she served as a nurse until her honorable discharge. Sandi’s heart for service carried throughout her life—she attended Bible School, taught, raised horses, and built a successful real estate career, owning and operating her own company in Crestview for many years. In her later year, she earned her Ph.D. to counsel those in need, continuing her lifelong mission of helping others.

Sandi was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She especially loved teaching her Sunday School class, where she shared her faith with joy and deep devotion. She was a bright Christian light to all who knew her—selfless, joyful, and steadfast in faith.

Her favorite joys in life were simple: riding horses, reading, studying her Bible, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, David Underwood. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Smith; her brother, Tom Boswell; her grandchildren: Michael (Samantha) White, Meghan Riley, Matilin White, Hunter Rhude, and Hayley Smith; 13 great-grandchildren; and her cherished grand fur babies.

Sandi will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her faith, her love, and the lasting impact she made in the lives of others.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 9-10:00am at Woodlawn Baptist Church with the funeral beginning at 10:00am.
