SGM Retired Jose S. Arroyo, Sr.

          Jose Arroyo age 74 of Crestview passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in the Philippines on November 2, 1948, to Pio and Narcisa Arroyo. Jose joined the United States Army and served his country for 30 years. During his career he lived in many places, the Philippines, South Korea, Killeen, TX, Las Vegas and Crestview, FL. In 2020 he and his wife moved to Crestview to be near his son and his family. He was proud of his only son, and proud of grandchildren and especially loved his daughter-in-law. Jose was very proud of his 30 years in the Army. He would share his stories of when was in the Philippines and when he joined the Army. He loved to play with his grandson and was the first to hold his granddaughter. Jose loved hanging out with his family, loved to fish, watching NASCAR races and barbecuing. His favorite foods were banana bread and sweets. Most people would sum him up as The Sgt. Major, many of his troops looked up to him and said he was a great man. His family will always remember him as the best grandpa, dad, and husband.

          Jose is survived by his wife of 46 years Hae Suk Arroyo, his son Jose Arroyo, Jr, and his wife Bianca; his grandchildren: Josiah Arroyo and Alissa Arroyo and many siblings, nieces, and nephews.

          The family will hold a private service at a later date with military honors.
