Sharon Kaye Cosgrove, peacefully passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 80 in Crestview, Florida. She was born on December 2, 1942, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to her parents, Clyde James “CJ” and Vera S. Hollingsworth. Sharon was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who dedicated her life to caring for her family and in service of others.
Sharon attended Shawnee High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and later pursued higher education at Oklahoma Baptist University. Throughout her life, Sharon worked as a secretary for her husband's businesses. She also excelled as a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family.
In her free time, Sharon had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy. She enjoyed keeping house, gardening, decorating, and flowers. Sharon also had a sense of adventure and loved snow skiing, snowmobiling, boating, and dancing...even trying hang-gliding and riding a Segway scooter. She was always up for trying new things and embraced life to the fullest. But she most enjoyed just being with her family, listening to them play instruments and sing songs, and singing along while Dewey played the harmonica. Sharon was a faithful servant of God, was gracious, tenderhearted and kind to others. She loved to give hugs, play games (most especially a board game called, "Wahoo."} with her family and not one game passed that she didn’t sneak and try to cheat, just to see if someone would notice. Sharon never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She had a kind heart and a loving, sweet spirit, and would help others any way she could. Her sons have a saying, “If someone doesn’t like my mother, something is wrong with them.”
Sharon is survived by her husband, Dewey Cosgrove, sons, David W. Cosgrove, MD (Patti), and Jeffrey A. Cosgrove, brother, Gary Hollingsworth (Charlotte), sister, Rita Hollingsworth, and cousin, Gene Burrows (Pat). Sharon is also survived by her grandchildren, Garrett A. Cosgrove (Krista), and Emily N. Cosgrove. Great grandchildren, Ava K. Cosgrove and Cooper J. Cosgrove. She is also survived by special family members, Jamie Harbert, Harry Harbert, Deborah Stephens, and Kelvin Lee, along with other cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A memorial service to honor Sharon's life will be held at New Beginnings Church on October 28, 2023. Visitation will take place from 3:00-4:00 pm, followed by the service at 4:00 pm.
