Sherry Leigh Ritchie

Sherry Leigh Ritchie, 79, passed away Sunday March 22, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1946, in Hendersonville, NC to James Allen Johnson and Gladys Johnson. Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Sherry worked in the medical field as an Insurance Registrar for 36 years, she was a member of the Knights of Columbus lady’s auxiliary. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, crafting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A Ritchie Jr., her brothers; Jimmy Johnson and Ricky Johnson, and sister Alana Johnson.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Holt, her 5 children Donna Marie Schierbaum, Katherine E Turner, Joseph A Ritchie III and wife Amanda, Steven G Ritchie, Christopher P Ritchie and wife Wendy. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, with funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
