Obituary

Shirley Cox, age 62, of Laurel Hill passed away on Saturday January 14, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Florala, AL on June 28, 1960, to Wayne and Nadine Josey. Shirley graduated from Crestview High School Class 1978. She enjoyed fishing, fox hunting, and mud racing. She liked making and designing quilts for friends and family. Most of all, she loved her grandbabies and her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Josey. Shirley is survived by her husband of 44 years, Morris Cox; her mother, Nadine Gilley; her Son: Justin Cox and his wife Samantha; daughters: Andrea Holt, and Nicole Cadenhead; brother, Roy Josey; sisters: Maxie Mullis, Carol Acres, and Marilyn Fowler. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chance Holt, Maci Holt, Mason Cox, Ella Cox, and Logan Hunt. The celebration of Shirley’s life will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow the service at Reeder Cemetery in Laurel Hill, Florida.
