Susan Thames Kelly

Susan Thames Kelly went home to a glorious reunion in Heaven Tuesday, August 24, 2021.  She was born August 12, 1953 to her mother, Matryd Thames and adoring grandparents, Grady and Spivey Thames.  Later in life, she was happy to grow to know her father Ray Barrow. 

          Susan was a life long resident of Escambia Farms.  She was a graduate of Baker School and the University of West Florida.  She spent most of her working years as an adult education teacher in the Florida prison system.  She loved reading and her cats.  Her family, especially her granddaughters, were her whole world.

          She was preceded in death by her Mama and Dad, Matryd and Clarence Batson, father Ray Barrow, mother and father-in-law Walter and Chestine Kelly, brother and sister-in-law Gary Kelly and Louis Kelly Mason, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

          Susan is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Jerry Kelly, daughters and sons in law, Deidra and Tony Rezzarday, Beth and Cedric Peterson, her granddaughters Hannah and Lily Rezzarday and Madyson and Carter Peterson. She is also survived by her siblings, Steve Batson, Debbie Robbins, Brenda Otto, Randy Barrow, Joellen Caines, Jim Barrow, their spouses, brothers and sisters -in-law Larry and Charlotte Kelly, Michael and Norma Kelly, Rusty and Vickie Kelly, Timmy Kelly, Debbie Everett, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, children and grandchildren she did not birth but considered her own.

          A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 am.  There will be a time of visitation from 10-11 am.
