On Friday, January 31, 2020, Thelma "Teri" Marie McLeod ended her battle with cancer, and peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 78.
Teri was born on September 6, 1941 in Barberton, Ohio to Ellis and Virginia Conrad. She married Charles "Doug" McLeod on July 30, 1960. They raised three children in Ohio and later retired to Crestview Florida.
Teri was an accomplished quilter, enjoyed pottery, flowers, and thrift shopping! She blessed everyone with her handmade gifts and won several awards for her creations. She was a member of several organizations including GFWC Women's Club, Red Hat Society, Dogwood Gardening Club, Altrusa, PTA, and First United Methodist Church of Crestview. She was honored as "Woman of the Year" by both the GFWC Woman's Club and Dogwood Garden Club. She also taught Sunday school, coached and played softball, and worked in the church library. She enjoyed her career as a Human Resource Manager, and retired from Johnson Controls in 1992. Teri and Doug hosted a foreign-exchange student from France, Camille Beaux, who became a dear friend. Touring France with Camille's family was one of the highlights of Teri's life.
Teri was preceded in death by her father whom she adored, Ellis Conrad, her younger brother Edward Conrad, and precious granddaughter Hannah McLeod. She is survived by her loving husband Doug, her mother Virginia Conrad, sister and close friend Laurel (John) Hill, Sister-in-law Veronica Conrad, her children Julie Devine, Jeff (Tara) McLeod, Jon (Suzanne) McLeod, and grandchildren Taylor Devine (her best friend), Alex Cline, Maxwell McLeod, Elijah McLeod, Brooklyn McLeod, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Sacred Heart Cancer Center for making a difficult journey so much brighter.
A time of visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 on February 7, 2020. A celebration of Teri's life will follow at 3:00. Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home at 436 West James Lee Blvd., Crestview, FL 32536 with Pastor Ronnie Bearden officiating.
