Thomas Oglesby Obituary

Thomas Douglas Oglesby, lovingly known as Douglas, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by faith, hard work, and deep love for his family.

Douglas was born on April 9, 1938, in Holley-Navarre, Florida, to T.J. Oglesby and Louise Broxson Oglesby. Throughout his life, Douglas resided in Wright and Blackman, Florida. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Laurel Hill, Florida. He was the oldest of six children.

In January of 1960, Douglas married the love of his life, Katherine “Kitty” Oglesby. Together they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage, standing side by side through all of life’s joys and challenges with unwavering faith and love. From their union came three sons: Jeffery Douglas Oglesby, Leslie Nicholas (Nicky) Oglesby, and Joel Thomas Oglesby.

Douglas was a hardworking and skilled businessman who owned and operated Electric Motor Repair in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, for many years. He was also gifted in woodworking and carpentry, talents he took great pride in. An outdoorsman at heart, Douglas loved hunting, watching deer from his back porch, and tending to his garden—simple pleasures that brought him great peace.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kitty Oglesby; his parents, T.J. and Louise Oglesby; his brothers, Joe Oglesby, Hubert Oglesby, and Roy Oglesby; and his son, Jeff Oglesby.

Douglas is survived by his sons, Nicky Oglesby (Sherri) and Joel Oglesby (Suzanne); his daughter-in-law, Gina Oglesby; his grandchildren, Nicole Warf (James), Lindsey Dowdell (Brian), April Hogan (Sean), Brittany Oglesby, Teejay Oglesby, Jessie Neale (AJ), Shelby Taylor (Carson), Jake Oglesby (Kyra), and Emily Brinn (Drew); his sisters, Judy Nicholson and Ruby Moyer; as well as 19 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Douglas leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and steadfast love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
