Vinea, affectionately known as Nanny B, went home to be with Jesus on December 23, 2024. She loved Jesus and her family with all her heart. She will be greatly missed by those she has left behind, but she will be expectantly waiting on the other side for a reunion of epic proportions. Vinea was preceded in death by her husband, Henton Potter, and her son, James Hunton Potter. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Ricky) Ates, and her son, Robert (Sabrina) Potter; her sisters, Jeanette Meadows and Stella Brown; her grandchildren, Brandon Ates, Jacob Ates, Michaela Ates, Makina Potter, and Stephen Godwin; also surviving her are the lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Noah, Tristen, Emma, Abella, Tyndal, Elliot, Tanner, Kade, Tempi, Waylon, Fisher, Bowen and Laikynn. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd at 10 am with Reverend Todd Sowell officiating the funeral service at 11 am. Nanny B will be laid to rest next to her husband at Griffith Cemetery.
Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Nanny B and asks that you keep them in your prayers during this difficult time.
