Wayne Sherwood, age 95, of Crestview, Florida, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home. He was born in Limestone, NY, on December 7, 1929, to Clifford and Neva Sherwood. His passion as a teen was frequenting roller rinks with his friends in New York and New Jersey where he met the love of his life, Cass. They married in 1951 and had 3 children, Gary, Debbie, and Glen. They resided in Barrington, NJ. He was a member of the Barrington Rod and Reel Club. In late 1973 they moved to S. Florida.
He was an avid archer and saltwater fisherman. He taught his children and grandchildren archery. He was president of the Ft. Lauderdale Archers, and a member of the Florida Archery Association, and the National Field Archery Association.
In the early 1980’s, he gave his life to Christ. He and Cass became very involved in ministry with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. In the early 90’s, he retired with Bendix Avionics as a Tool and Dye Maker.
They moved to Crestview, FL in 1992. In his part-time retirement, He built a 72nd scale model of Noah’s ark. With his love of the bible accounts of the ark and his vast knowledge, he presented and displayed his model ark at many churches and festivals over several years. He became known as Noah to many. He was a mentor, a friend, a loving husband, dad, and Pop-pop.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Debbie McDougald and her husband Tom; son, Glen Sherwood; 9 grandchildren: Gary, Tammy, Shawn, Abigail, Eddie, Melissa, Cliff, Jon and Tony; many great and great-great grandchildren.
