William Maxwell James, Sr., 80 years old, of Crestview, Florida passed away on August 20, 2021 at 10:30am in Holt, Florida. Max, a humble Christian Man departed this world from his son’s home with wife and son by his side.
A family viewing will begin at 9:30am Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Crestview, Florida. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00am. The funeral services will be held at 11:00am at Woodlawn Baptist Church, where Max and family were members nearly 50 years with Senior Pastor Jason Allen, Associate Pastor Bob McNeil and Music Worship Pastor Brian Bates officiating. A brief burial service will follow at 1:30 in Berryhill Cemetery Milton, Florida. Arrangements are by Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.
Max James was born in Tibbie, Alabama to Louise Hardy and Chester James on September 15, 1940. He went to school at Fruitdale School, Fruitdale, Alabama. He married Linda Diann Brewer on December 4, 1971 in Milton, Florida. He worked as a Public Servant for the city of Crestview for 30 ½ years. He served others as a Boy Scout Leader, member of his church choir and worship service usher. Max was humble, caring and godly. He enjoyed camping and playing his mandolin with family and friends.
Max is preceded in death by his father, Chester Maxwell James; mother, Myrtle Louise (Hardy) James’ son, Phillip Aaron James’ father-in-law, Charles Hankins Brewer’ mother-in-law, Doris Viola (Willis) Brewer’ and sister-in-law, Clara Ann (Brewer) Kimmons.
Max is survived by his spouse, Linda Diann (Brewer)James; son, William Maxwell James, Jr.; daughter-in-law Tina Patricia (Rellergert) James and Heather Nicole (Creech) James; brother-in-law, Jerry V. Kimmons; and Charles Edward Brewer, Sr.; sister-in law, Diana Kaye (Finney) Brewer; grandchildren, Page Elizabeth James, Hanna Nicole James, William Maxwell (Liam) James III and Cecilia Grace James; nieces, Kerry Diann Kimmons, Lisa Kaye (Brewer) Howell,; nephews, Gerald V. Kimmons, Charles Edward(Chuck) Brewer Jr., and Steven Patrick Kimmons.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Fields, Charles E. Brewer, Jay Croussore, Guy Boykin, Gerald Kimmons, Charles (Chuck) Brewer, and Mike Ward.
Memorial may be delivered to Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home or Woodlawn Baptist Church Crestview, Florida.
