Willie B. Lawrence

Willie B Lawrence, 89, of Laurel Hill, Florida passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025 at home surrounded by loved ones. Willie was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on January 9, 1936. In her late 20s she found her way to Pensacola, Florida, where she met her late husband Cecil. They spent many years moving around the US to follow Cecil's job as a semi truck driver. They were blessed with their daughter, Angelita, in 1962 and in the late 80s they settled down in Laurel Hill Florida. She became a devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren. Cecil later passed away and she found herself with a little extra time on her hands, so she began volunteering with Hospice in which she was one of the first volunteers honored with the Hospice "Tender Loving Care" award. During her time with Hospice she met Richard. She and Richard became friends in life later moving to Sumter, South Carolina. In Richard's passing, she came home to Laurel Hill where she spent the rest of her time with her family.
 Willie is preceded in death by her late husband Cecil "Teo" Lawrence and her friend in life Richard Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter Angelita Day (Keith), grandchildren Mercedes Jones (TJ) and Joshua Day, her great granddaughter Brooklyn Day, brother Leroy Swindle, sister in law Sharon Jones, nephews Evann Swindle and Ryan Swindle.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 9:00-10:00am, funeral service will follow with Pastor Donnie Cadenhead officiating. Burial will be at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
