Dear Mabel,

I was devastated to hear about Connie. I may have only lived in Crestview for a year, but what a wonderful time Connie and I had. I laugh when I think of our escapes as third graders. I only got to see Connie once twenty years ago, but we always picked up where we’d left off.

I wanted to reach out to you. Throughout our lives certain friendships are just extra sweet. I love Connie and always will. Please forgive us for pestering you to no end! Love to you and yours, Margie Sawyer Murphy

Sincere condolences to the Roper family. I met Connie over 30 years ago when we both worked at Sandestin. We became instant friends. . . She had a fabulous sense of humor and brilliant mind! Many good times we shared! Although we haven't been in touch in recent years, I am thankful for the wonderful memories. She will be missed by many.

Even though this is a time of extreme sadness and sorrow, I believe that in lieu of grieving over losing her, Connie would want us to celebrate the wonderful memories we have of her. Universal appreciation for her wit, her intellect, her positive contributions and her enthusiasm for life will live on. Connie made the world a better place, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dickie,
You are correct on all points, but as of now it is so difficult. The loss of Connie remains surreal, almost unimaginable and we are grappling with the reality of it. Time is a great healer but a wonderful part of life is no longer with us. She was so special.
