David E. Davis of Holt, Fl, passed away very peacefully on Saturday, April 16th at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 14, 1946, to Willie D. and Eunice (Carr) Davis of Pensacola and was a resident of Holt for the past 40 years.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Vernon Wayne Davis.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Janice, and their two sons Brian Davis of Holt and Robert (Bobby) Davis of Pensacola. He is also survived by his sister, Florence Stephens (Larry) of Pensacola, two grandsons, Parker and Paxton Davis of Crestview, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Big Red One infantry division in 1967 & 1968. He retired from Monsanto in 2001. He was a volunteer firefighter and was the first Chief of the Holt Volunteer Fire Dept.  He liked gardening, NASCAR and  country music. He enjoyed managing the Yellow River Band and was their biggest fan. He was a serious fisherman, but was a fun loving, outgoing person who liked to make people laugh and was always willing to help when needed.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holt. Services are being handled by Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home and will be at the First Baptist Church in Holt on Tuesday, April 19th at 11 A.M. with Pastor Curt Rainey officiating. Visitation is at 10 A.M. with burial at the New Holt Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice of Crestview or Holt Baptist Church.
