Crestview is loosing so many founding Fathers of this great City... my he rest in peace, just remember him in school as a classmate and friend. He had Crestview in his heart and always tried to do the best that was good for the City, that is like taking Coney Island, and the Twin Hills park from Crestview. I have visited Paden's hardware store as a boy. He only had good in his heart (nothing more). Remember the good things he has completed for Crestview, not the bad things. "Just the good" Remember Durell as a good man. and the accomplishments that are benefitting Crestview at the moment. Along with George Whitehurst and Sheriff Ray Wilson. His name will live on in Crestview, as long as there is a Crestview. as the saying goes "live long and prosper" and don't take a wooden nickel... "Maybe Durell would and sale it to Bud Multon.... "I think it than would be called a "plug nickel"

I first met Dr. Peaden as he was completing his rotating internship at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Pensacola. Even then he was an strong advocate for health care in Crestview and community; in fact, before I finished my three years of paediatric training in Pensacola, he attempted to recruit me to serve in Crestview (a military obligation precluded that). My interactions since that time revealed him to be a gentleman with diverse talents who was never ending advocate for the delivery of health care services to the under served. He served as a role model for all who wish to do the very best for their communities, and he will be missed.

I have just read the complete Obituary and realized what an educated and intelligent man Dr Peaden was ! He helped so many young students preparing a way for them to go to college, I surely appreciate all he did for Crestview and his patients. May God Bless you Nancy and all the family > I know he will be missed by all the lives he touched .

My condolences to Nancy, the children, and grandchildren of Senator Peaden and to all the friends and relatives Senator/Dr. Peaden left behind. He was my friend, my cheerleader and he made me feel special. He never missed an opportunity to tell me how happy he was that I took this job at FAMU in Crestview. He loved this city and the people of Crestview. May your soul rest in peace, Senator/Dr. Durell Peaden. It was a blessing to have known you in this life. This city has lost a renegade, a pillar, and a friend, but Heaven is rejoicing because you're there. Thank you for all that you were and will remain to us in this life!

It is only through the grace of God that we have the chance to be among great people. People that put the needs of others ahead of their own. Great teachers of life. Great mentors; those with the compassion and warmth of a friend always asking what they can do for you. Such a man was Doc. He epitomized the very essence of what humankind should be to each other. And we all loved him for that. It will be impossible to forget him, nor would we want to. His spirit resides in all of us lucky enough to call him "friend". And that is what grace does for us. It is a gift only he can give. Robin and I send our love and thoughts to Nancy and the family.

My deepest condolences to the family of a great man. I knew him only as Senator Peaden who championed many good causes not the least his hometown Pensacola Junior College. Yet he was the type of person always open to meeting with people across the state. He once invited an entire busload of students from Miami Dade College who were visiting the Capitol into his office to chat with them. He will always be remembered. Victoria

I was unemployed and looking for a job when your loved one brought sunshine into my life. The sunshine came about by his providing me with the opportunity to become gainfully employed again. How he did this was by his pressing forward with the legislation to bring Florida A&M University, Crestview, into existence, I will forever remember him and his battles. He will always be remembered by me as being the "Angel" that opened the door of opportunity for me. My heart goes out to you and yours during this time. May God continually bless you and give you the peace that you need. Gloria Jones
