Mary Ruth Townsend

Mary Ruth Townsend, age 94 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

She was born March 2, 1921 in Baker, Florida to Robert and Mettie Booker. She was avid gardener, enjoyed playing her piano, she loved to sew, she also enjoyed friends and family visiting, and most of all she loved to go to church.

            She is survived by her husband, Richard Townsend; her sons, Robert W. Hicks and wife Edith; Henry L. Jackson and wife Gwynn; daughters, Kathryn Hoyle and husband Jay, Anita Cater and husband Greg; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-children, and 9 great-great children.

            A time of visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 2:00-3:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the service following at 3:00pm with the Reverend Walter Long. Burial will follow at Holt Cemetery.
