Oh my dear sweet sister. My heart aches for you. I miss you so much but I know you are my angel guiding me and I feel it. My tears flow regularly for all the times we could have had together now that you were closer.

Melanie will be missed. I have a lot of great memories of when we were stationed in Germany together. We became great friends right from the first time we met. We took quite a few trips together. If it wasn't for her I would have never gotten a chance to go to London. She was a great supporter when I needed someone to talk to you when my grandmother passed. When my family came to Europe they were blessed to have been touched by her...so there is great sadness in my home on her loss. I am still processing the news of her passing. My heart and prayers go out to her family.

Melanie, you will be missed. What a wonderful friend you were. Melanie had a connection to Ohio. My Mom was born in SW Ohio and we used to talk about that. Gary, my heart goes out to you and Anthony in the loss of you wife, friend and Anthony's mother. A life taken too soon, but God has a plan. We don't always understand that plan when we are going through the struggles, but God is with you. At a time of tragedy, Jesus is holding you and Anthony in his arms. Know that Melanie is also looking down on you with love and laughter. Melanie always had a smile and I remember watching Melanie, Gary and Anthony, from the altar as we were singing on the worship team, and they were sitting in the front row of the church. Occasionally Anthony would do what boys do...act up in Church, and Melanie always took it in stride.
Love and prayers are being sent to you Gary and Anthony and the rest of the family. Nothing anyone says will lessen the hurt, but know that you are all loved and if there is anything I can do, please feel free to reach out to me.

I did not know Melanie or her family but I was traveling westbound on I-10 at the location of the accident just minutes before it happened. I recall the rain was severe between mile market 159 and 154. I saw emergency vehicles headed to the interstate when I exited at 142 to meet my daughter-in-law. A few minutes later, I headed back to Tallahassee and at mile marker 152 I met a traffic jam and there I sat for an hour and 45 min. I was saddened to see the truck on it's side as I passed the accident. I learned of the fatalities a few days later. I am deeply sorry for your loss!

To the whole Bancroft family: We are so very sorry for your loss. It's been a number of years since I've seen Melanie. Fond memories of sleepovers with Kelley when we were just kids brings you all to mind and the good times we had. Praying your memories will carry you through this very difficult time.
