Ricky White

Ricky White left this life Monday, October 5, 2015, at UAB Hospital after battling pancreatic cancer since July 2015.  He was surrounded by his loving family and passed peacefully at the hand of his Heavenly Father.   Ricky was born June 3, 1956 to Red and June White in Brewton, Alabama.  He was proceeded in death by his father Red White.  He is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Bryan Bludworth; grandson, Hayden Bludworth; granddaughter Alaina Bludworth; Mother, June White; Brothers Randy (Cheryl) White, Ronnie White and Jamie (Camilla) White; Sisters, Debbie Ramsey (John) and Sandy Fennimore (Patrick); and many close nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were also family. Ricky attended Crestview High School and graduated from Baker High School in 1974.  Shortly after, he married Sheila, his high school sweetheart and they began their family with the addition of their precious daughter, Toni.  He worked for 21 years at Crestview Lumber/Ace Hardware, where he made countless friends and gained the respect from our community.  Then took a job in Fiber Design working with his brothers.  Later he traveled independently with his friend Doug, walking railroad tracks and measuring routes for Fiber placement.  Next, Ricky and Sheila traveled with a large sign company and worked together as installers for SunGroup.  In 2004, Ricky came home to start his lawn care business.  Ricky loved hunting and fishing with his best buddy and brother Skip, woodworking with Toni, and taking trips and spending time with Sheila.  He treasured the relationships he had with neighbors, clients, colleagues, church family, and friends.  He was so grateful to have a close relationship with his Doctor Josh Kolmetz and wife Kristy, and the doctors at UAB.

Ricky was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ricky would want his hometown community to know how much he loved and appreciated all the support that was shown to him throughout his life, especially in the past few months.  His life was good and full of love, all because of those that shared it with him.

Services will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8th, 2015.   Visitation with the family will be held at 1:00pm.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm.  Graveside service to follow at Wing Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may donate to either of the following or the charity of your choice:
