Jewell Johns

Jewell Anderson Johns, 88, a long-time resident of Crestview, passed away on February 2, 2016, at home surrounded by family.  A native of Opp, AL, she has lived in Okaloosa County for the past 60 years.  Retired as manager of Bill’s Dollar Store, Miss Jewell also worked as a telephone operator in Crestview.

Very active in her Church; for many years she served as a delegate at the Southern Baptist Convention; taught Sunday School and held office in the Women’s Missionary Union.  She also served on the board of directors at Graceville Bible College.

Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Gus Johns; she is survived by daughters, Jeri (James) Tobias and Beth (Alex) Ingram; son, Jeff (Marsha) Johns; five grandsons: Jay (Brandy) Johns, Joey Johns, Tyler Tobias, Eric & Emmitt Ingram; great-grandchildren: Justyce & Jaysten Johns, Dustin Higginbottom & Eli Pennington; along with a host of nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be Friday, February 5th @ 2:30 p.m., at Woodlawn Baptist Church with interment to follow at Live Oak Park Cemetery.
